The name is Clarkson, Jeremy Clarkson … and as the 2009 Auction of Promise's theme is James Bond, you can expect a high-pace, all-thrilling evening of entertainment. Fasten your seat belts and expect to be shaken and stirred all the way!

Best known as the presenter of BBC2's "Top Gear", Jeremy Clarkson is one of Chipping Norton's most well-known residents. As well as his TV career, Jeremy Clarkson writes weekly columns for both The Times and The Sun.

But here in Chipping Norton, Jeremy Clarkson is famous for his ability to get this exciting event into 'Top Gear', and auction promises at breakneck speed. At the same time, Jeremy Clarkson can be relied on to delight his audience, and persuade them to bend the plastic for this very worthy cause. 6th annual Auction of Promise

The fun-packed Auction is the 6th to be held in aid of Chipping Norton's Lido. To date, nearly £100,000 has been raised to help support the town's Lido. Last year's auction raised a massive £18,000. Please give your support to make the 2009 auction an even bigger success.

Chipping Norton Lido

Chipping Norton's open-air swimming pool was opened in 1970, and has provided a valuable leisure resource to the people of the town for nearly 40 years. In 2002, the Lido was threatened with closure by WODC. In 2003, the KOPO (Keep Our Pool Open) campaign successfully lobbied the council which agreed to a one-year reprieve.

Today, 6 years later, and thanks to the hard work of many of its volunteers, Chipping Norton Lido still can be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.
